Frequently asked questions
A Square is a 10x10 grid with 100 boxes. Everyone claims boxes, one or ten, however many they want. At the end of each quarter we look at the last digit of each team's score: match your box's two numbers and you win. No sports knowledge required.
Four steps, about three minutes: 1. Pick your game. Any NFL, NCAAF, NCAAB, or NBA game; scores come in live. 2. Set up your Square. Payout rules, entry fee if any, closing time. The defaults work if you don't want to think about it. 3. Share your link. Text it, post it, email it, however you normally get the group together. 4. Watch the game. As people claim boxes, we assign numbers, and winners are called at the end of every quarter. We keep score. You host.
Share a link, they pick their boxes, done. When you create a Square we give you a link that's yours to share: text, group chat, email, wherever your people are. Players open it, see the grid, claim the boxes they want, and they're in. No account required, no app to download.
Nothing. Your first Square is free when you sign up, no card needed. After that, Hosting Credits start at $4.99 and never expire.
No. Only hosts use Hosting Credits to publish.
Buy more anytime. One Hosting Credit is $4.99, and bundles lower the price of each one. They never expire.
NFL, college football, NBA, and college basketball. Sunday night, a rivalry game, March Madness, the Finals: any game on the schedule. Scores update live and winners are called at the end of every quarter or period.
Yes. You set the payout structure, box prices, when the grid closes, and how numbers get assigned, and you can password-protect the whole thing. Pay out every quarter or only the final, run it as a fundraiser, or run it without an entry fee. If you'd rather not think about it, the defaults match how most hosts run Squares.
A spreadsheet leaves the host updating scores, matching names to boxes, and chasing the Venmo thread. Sunday Squares updates the score, calls winners, and keeps the paid list in Settle Up.
Yes. Stripe handles checkout and we never see your card number. Worth repeating: that's only for buying Hosting Credits. We never touch money between you and your players. Players pay you however your group already pays each other, and Settle Up keeps your paid list.
Yes. Set your box price, tell everyone where the money's going, and run it like any other Square: live scores, winners every quarter, and a list of who's paid. School teams, marathons, and office causes all work.
If a game is postponed, your Square moves with it to the new game time. If it's cancelled outright, email support@sundaysquares.com and we'll move you to a different game or refund the Hosting Credit.
Email support@sundaysquares.com. Jon usually answers within an hour. Scores and winners update on their own, and players join from your link.
Same weekly rhythm, opposite goal. In a Survivor Pool you pick one team each week to win. In a Losers Pool you pick one team each week to lose. Either way you can never pick the same team twice in a season, and a wrong result costs a strike. Run out of strikes and your entry is eliminated.
No. Money moves straight between you and your players. Settle Up keeps the rest organized: you add your Venmo, PayPal, or Cash App during setup, players get a pay button with the amount filled in when they join, winners add their handle, and you pay them out in one tap. When a player taps pay they're marked pending for you automatically, you confirm when it lands, and you always know who still owes without asking twice.
Pools cover the NFL for the 2026 season. Pick a team every week of the regular season, and we grade picks automatically as games go final.
